ENVIRONMENTAL WORKERS


Environmental workers clean and protect the environment. OTI’s Trades and Apprenticeship Career Class offers an environmental training track. They can be Laborers managing stormwater through installing storm drains and bio-swales, and erosion control. Laborers also perform hazardous waste clean-up and asbestos abatement.
Environmental workers can work in recycling of hazardous waste and other materials at organizations such as Metro. Recycling, material recovery, construction & demolition debris collection and recycling, and waste minimization are all jobs that minimize our impact on the environment.

Environmental workers can work in deconstruction and material re-use at firms like the ReBuilding Center
Clean-up of former industrial sites such as in and around the Portland Harbor means that the river is safer for swimming, boating and fishing, and that contaminated land is now able to be used productively.
